New District Brewing Company, Bring Your Dog and Kids!!
Breweries can be a cash machine; solely to turn a buck. I have been lucky to avoid those places. I stumbled upon the New District Brewing while looking for a local place to review and found a real craft brewery with brewing in mind.
First off parking is tough because the warehouse area is adjacent to a popular dog park. This is no fault of New District, simply not enough space to park. The dog park is a plus because New District is pet friendly.
New District is a bona fide real school brewery. The brewery is set in a warehouse area surrounded by just regular run of the mill businesses. I dig it. Beer. Beer is exactly what New District is in the business for. The set-up is a mix of business and casual; plenty of room to relax, play a board game, and taste the wares. Something really hit home with New District, it was a real place to brew beer. No gimmicks. Brew and taste. You like the beer; buy it.
The staff was helpful and friendly. They also had the regulation long beards (I’m hating because I can’t get mine that long without looking like Santa Claus). Friendly and paid attention to detail.
Well Jason, you going to talk about the beer??? I started off trying the Zeros Experimental. It was tasty, not sour or acidic, and is described as “pale straw colored beer accented by a smooth malt finish”. I didn’t have a ton of time so I had a taster of the Call to Action IPA next; LOVED it, not as bitter as I thought it would be, closer to a double IPA. I wanted to bring home a 64oz growler but they were all sold out of growlers….NO! That’s ok, I’ll be back for some IPA or other tasters.
NOTE: Kid and pet friendly. Mixed crowd from Hip to parents toting kids in baby bjorns to 40’ish grande men like me. Parking is tough, prepare to drive around a bit but no big deal, the brew is worth it.
